Sony usually plugs digicams with titanium shells, exorbitantly high numbers of megapixels and extended battery lives, but that’s not the case with its latest handset. The Japanese electronics giant has designed a prototype camera that doesn’t need batteries and doesn’t even have a display.

It looks more like a pizza cutter than a cutting-edge snapper: a rubber ringed circle, which sits on the end of a Wii Remote-like handle, just needs to be rolled along a flat surface before sufficient power’s generated to take pictures. Sony claims 15 seconds’ rolling produces enough power to snap one shot.
This process seems simple in practice, because there’s no ISO sensitivity to set, no image mode to choose and no confusing array of buttons. Users simply look through a viewfinder in the centre of the device, line up the shot and then press a button on the stick to grab the image. A lens is hidden within the handle.
This is certainly a camera for people who don’t want to mess around with settings just to get a snap! Look through the hole press a button and get a photo. I am sure I used to have a camera like this when I was a little kid, the only difference was it exposed onto film rather than a CCD…
I have been using OpenDNS for around 8 months now and I am definately impressed!. I have a Be Internet connection which is lovely and fast, but even then I noticed a dramatic speed increase in web page loading when changing from my ISP to OpenDNS. It feels like pages are already loading before I have even lifted my finger of the Enter key! Uptime is also amazing, I have only experienced one problem since switching and even then I am not entirely convinced I wasn’t being subjected to a DDOS attack.
The DNS package is rounded of with quite a spectacular array of tools found in their dashboard. If you sign up for a OpenDNS account you get full stats on all lookups performed in your networks, phishing protection, adult content filters, website shortcuts, domain blocking and customised search pages, for when you misstype that domain name. This sounds just like a lot of other products you can install on your machine, but with OpenDNS you get all of these features without installing anything. If you run a small network like me, you simply change the DNS servers on your router and you are away!
