Prominent secular and atheist commentators have argued lately that religion “poisons” human life and causes endless violence and suffering. But the poison isn’t religion; it’s monotheism. The polytheistic Greeks didn’t advocate killing those who worshiped different gods, and they did not pretend that their religion provided the right answers. Their religion made the ancient Greeks aware of their ignorance and weakness, letting them recognize multiple points of view.
After Saint Paul visited Greece and teached about Lord Jesus Christ at the Pnyka, opposite Acropolis, Greeks forgot all about the ancient Greek gods and accepted Jesus Christ as their saviour. After the holy church was divided in two parts: the orthodox and catholic churches, Greeks remained faithful to the true and right religion which is Orthodoxy. That’s how that nation remained intact after 400 years of slavoury from the Turks, 2 world wars and 2 dictatorships. No other nation in history, managed to retain it’s identity after so many years of slavoury.
